Transport connections

3 walking minutes to the “Seestadt” station of the U2 underground line, quick connection to downtown Vienna.

Welcome to the GreenHouse in Aspern, Vienna!

Residency in the GreenHouse not only means that you will be living in an eco-friendly student dormitory but also in a brand-new part of Vienna. The purpose-built lake offers you the peace and relaxation you crave after a hard day of studying. Subway line U2 quickly takes you to your desired destination and can be reached by foot in just 7 minutes. With this connection, you can reach the University of Vienna and the WU directly without changing trains, or simply change trains at transfer stations into the direction of other educational facilities!

The newly designed courtyard is a perfect spot for unwinding, and the fitness room and sauna are available to you to work out or relax. The dorm places themselves are equipped with all the necessities of student life—of course, the modern furniture, Wi-Fi by Magenta-T as well as energy and operating costs are already included in the accommodation fee, just like in our other houses. Once a week a friendly team takes care of cleaning the accommodation.

The modern student dormitory GreenHouse in 1220 Vienna is a prime example of eco-friendly building as well as energy efficiency—by making use of photovoltaics, an energy storage system and energy-optimized architecture (high thermal insulation, airtight building envelope with a controlled home ventilation system, etc.). This inexpensive student residence in Vienna produces a large part of its energy demand itself (passive house standard). From spring until well into autumn, we even manage to generate more energy than we need for the student dormitory, and this “surplus energy” is fed into the power grid—therefore, the GreenHouse is a state-of-the-art dormitory for students and a small power plant at the same time.

Due to its advanced technology, the GreenHouse is an extraordinary research project overseen by the City of Vienna's own Aspern Smart City Research (ASCR) Agency which collects and analyzes all kinds of energy measurement data on the quality of living.

We operate the GreenHouse together with our partners, OeAD-WohnraumverwaltungsGmbH and ÖJAB; each home operator has its own quota of dorm places. The on-site administration is carried out by a team from ÖJAB with whom we are in constant communication, while we take care of room allocation and billing ourselves. Of course we are happy to assist our residents with concerns and problems that cannot be solved in the GreenHouse itself.
